Example of bunion surgery incisions with Dr. Thomas MIS bunion procedure.

Dr. Thomas' typical surgery positioning with patient supine, slight external rotation, C arm fluoroscopy position, and surgeon position. 
​Bur positioning with live Xray guidance for 1st metatarsal bone cut.
​Angle of bur cuts based on experience and technique to allow for bunion correction. This bur selectively cuts bone only. 

​​Capsule Tendon Balancing with lateral release. 
Translating the head of the 1st metatarsal laterally into corrected position to reduce the inter-metatarsal angle and continue bunion repair on live X-ray. 

​Common final fixation of 1st metatarsal osteotomy.
Hallux Akin Osteotomy: a common adjunct bunion procedure which can now be done with MIS technique as below. 
Bur osteotomy of proxomal phalanx hallux under Xray guidance. 
Reduction of wedge bone cut with Xray guidance and prep for screw insertion.




​Final single screw fixation with minimal incisions.
